About the Series

“I found old writing that was damaged. I made it better than it was!”

—Sebbakka (ascribed)

Sculptors reproduce unbroken statues from broken ones. Architects reconstruct original buildings from ruined ones. Djarew’s work recovers preclassical sources from classical writings. It begins with the Bible.

What older writings were revised to make the Bible? According to Djarew, writers of the Bible used preclassical, mainly African histories and tales to make their stories about Samuel, Saul, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Esther and others. For example, take the Book of Jeremiah: it appears to have been plagiarized from an Egyptian mummy tale!
